Data Cabling
Structured data cabling will reduce cost on I.T Maintenance and system upgrades cost, up to 40% in labor and materials. Maintenance on structured data cabling will be cheaper due to the fact that you can isolate the problem to n subsystem which will reduce man hours on repairs. Future application will be supported on (cat5 or cat6) with little or none upgrades. Structured data cabling should be used in all new businesses to ensure high speed reliable operations.
Data Cabling Advantages
- With Structured data cabling total system failure are less likely making it one of the great advantages.
- Data cabling (cat5 & cat6) will support data, voice and video on the same infrastructure.
- Data Cabling infrastructure will support Changes/add-ons.
- Mixed hardware and applications are supported by structured cabling.
The Difference between Cat5 and Cat6 Data Cabling.
Categories 5 Cable or more known as Cat 5 is the most widely know and used cable in the computer network field. There is huge debate over cat5 cabling vs. cat 6 cabling. The fact of the matter is that the greatest difference between cat 5 and cat 6 cable is the processing speed at which the cable operates at.Cat5 cabling process data at 100MHZ while cat 6 process data over 200MHz making it 100% faster than Cat5 data cabling. Cat 6 cabling will produce much higher reliability and data transfer rates then cat5 data cabling but is more expensive to install and maintain due to the fact that all anther equipment must be cat 6 compatible. Cat6 is better insolated then cat5 making it ideal to use in places where electrical wires are installed making it less fundable to outside influences.
What Data cabling category will suit your network?
- Cat5: If your computer network runs at most 100Mbps
- Cat5e: If your data network runs at 1000Mbps.
- Cat6: If your computer network runs at 1000Mbps or more.Cat6 is ideal for premises with lots of outside interference like powered wires, powered equipment or long distance data cabling.Cat6 will mainly be used for streaming media such as Voice over or video.
Remember: your network speed is as only as fast as your slowest component.
